Using the soft palate (roof) of the mouth, an upper denture can
create a seal adequate enough to keep it in place. While there may
be resorption of the bone, it is significantly less than in the
lower jaw.
To fabricate a denture usually takes approximate 5 - 7 visits over
a period of at least a month. Preliminary and final impressions
are taken, teeth are selected and the denture is tried in place.
Then, after proper tooth placement is established, the denture is
processed. Once a denture is delivered, there will probably be a
number of adjustments needed to complete the fit.
Partial and full dentures can last many years although they may
periodically need to be relined to compensate for lost bone. Dentures
can range from $1,200 - $3,000 per denture (upper or lower).
